Calvin Harris Announced New Album Via Twitter

Calvin Harris Announced New Album Via Twitter

Calvin Harris, the Scottish DJ and hit-maker responsible for songs such as “How Deep is Your Love” and “This Is What You Came For”, strikes again with yet another summertime banger.

These past few months, Harris gave us the Frank Ocean and Migos-assisted “Slide”, followed by “Heatstroke” featuring Young Thug and Ariana Grande. While pairing  up artists that seem virtually incompatible, Harris has proved critics wrong making his most recent releases his best ones to date.

Thankfully it doesn’t look like he’ll be slowing down anytime soon. Calvin’s upcoming project, Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, along with the project’s cover art, was announced this past Tuesday (May 9) via his Twitter. Furthermore, he dropped more heat to keep us satisfied until June 30th, his album release date.

Check out today’s most recent release from Funk Wav Bounces called “Rollin” featuring Atlanta super-trapper Future and new alt-R&B artist Khalid. The song is available on https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/album/rollin-feat-future-khalid/id1233869908?i=1233869912&app=music&at=11l4Qg“>iTunes/https://geo.itunes.apple.com/us/album/rollin-feat-future-khalid/id1233869908?i=1233869912&app=music&at=11l4Qg“>Apple Music and Spotify.

Often times more than not, we find ourselves looking up lyrics to our favorite songs by our favorite artists. However; we may be unaware of the artists’ true intent behind a certain lyric. Genius, the media knowledge company that hosts a community of users annotating lyrics taps into Spotify for a huge collaboration. Their collaboration is in the form of an app called “Behind the Lyrics.”

With their “Behind the Lyrics” feature backed by both companies coming to Android, hip-hop fans can satisfy their need for knowledge behind any song. Originally introduced to iPhone iOS last year, the program was called “Fact Tracks” in which users where given artist anecdotes as the music streamed.

Alternative-R&B artists Khalid celebrates the Android expansion by sharing why he believes in Behind the Lyrics.

In an interview with HipHopDX, Khalid says, “You listen to a record, and you interpret it in your own way. But with this, you can see what the artist felt. ‘Maybe it means this.’ Music can mean anything you want.”

Spotify users can listen to the “Behind The Lyrics: Hip Hop” and “Today’s Top Hits” playlists to kick off the new Spotify and Genius collaboration.
