Netflix’s “The Get Down” Has Been Cancelled

Netflix’s “The Get Down” Has Been Cancelled! What are everyone’s thought about this?

For those of you who haven’t heard by now… the ground-breaking hip-hop origin storytelling series The Get Down has been cancelled!

Deadline was the first to report the news.

Baz Luhrmann, famous for 1996’s Romeo + Juliet, 2001’s Moulin Rouge, and 2013’s The Great Gatsby explained in a lengthy Facebook post why the series won’t be returning for a new season. Luhrmann confirmed the news when he expressed the show being “unlikely” to go back into production.

Although he poured a lot of love and energy into this project, he also reveals he had to be true to himself. “The simple truth is, I make movies. And the thing with movies is, that when you direct them, there can be nothing else in your life.”

Just the entire first season of The Get Down, which was broken into two parts, was reportedly the most expensive Netflix show ever, totally around a flashy price of $120 million.
