Back in 2012, gymnast Gabby Douglas made history as the first African-American woman to win gold in the all-around individual event for the Olympics.
Not only did the Virginia Beach native (757, stand up!!) win gold team medals in the 2012 Olympics—she came back and won AGAIN in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio!

As of today, Gabby’s likeness and her accomplishments are being acknowledged by the classic Barbie® doll company. Last July, Douglass made the announcement about the doll coming to life before the 2016 Summer Olympics kicked off. The doll is available to buy in stores across the country.
Gabby’s doll is a part of Barbie’s “Shero” line honoring other women who’ve made great strides in their careers such as director Ava DuVernay and ballerina Misty Copeland.
